Uniper operate Connahs Quay Power Station which is the largest CCGT electricity provider in Wales. The Station is undergoing a refurbishment programme to extend its useful life whilst also improving the thermal operating efficiency with annual maintenance being carried out on the turbine water-cooling system during the annual maintenance outage. As part of these works Difuria are sub-contracted through Costain the Principal Contractor to remove waste heat exchange plastic from a number of the 40 cooling tower cells each year. The uPVC waste which was once only sent to landfill waste sites is now a recyclable material allowing 50 Te of product to be recycled for each cooling tower cell. The recovery work started in 2013 with the aims to recycle the UPVC matrix.

It is desirable that applicants have knowledge of operating PLC systems, and hands on knowledge of Metso Cone Crusher’s would be a distinct advantage however full training will be given to the right applicant. Your primary job is to be vigilant at all times in monitoring the plants operation, vibration and minimizing effects of blockages when they occur within the process system and responding quickly in operating the plant shutdown procedure. Your duties will also include responding quickly to clear blockages as a priority and carrying out preventative maintenance to improve efficiency of plant operation. Task Description:• Ensure that the Plant and Site are Set-Up Safely.• Carry out Pre-start Checks and conduct routine maintenance.• Undertake daily process and environment checks. • Complete daily logbook and records in electronic format.• Work according to RAMS documents and follow operational safety procedures. • Maintain strong communication with crushing team to enable efficient and safe workflow.Basic Job Requirements:• Previous crushing experience essential• Crushing & Screening Certificate• Good crushing and mechanical knowledge to help repair broken down plant.• Able to start early and work 10 hr shifts with flexible lunch patterns.• Willing to travel to work sites.• Valid driver’s license.The position pays a generous hourly rate of 50-60 hours/per week, van, travel pay, occasional weekend work for maintenance and repair work if required.
